Abstract
Ⅰ. Objectives and Significance
A low temperature waste heat is regarded as nearly abandoned energy resources due to its poor recovery and utilization technologies, which leads to the inefficient energy use and environmental pollution. In recent decades due to environmental pollution as well as the sky rising prices of crude oil, international situations forced the scientists to pay more attention to develop the technologies that can utilize the waste heat from different energy facilities. Therefore, a clean energy supply (CES) for an urban and an industrial area by industrial waste heat recovery are urgently required for energy savings and green house gas reduction. On the other hand, a conventional system, using industrial waste hot water, can make process hot water of 60 to 70°C, while it is not possible to produce cold water at the same time. This yields a narrow range of applications and blocks the wide propagation of the systems.
Thus the prime objective of this research is to develop and study the technology for producing the high temperature of 90°C and the low temperature simultaneously using combination of a compression - absorption cycle with waste heat source in order to recover various kinds of industrial waste heat effectively.
Ⅱ. Contents and Scope of the thesis
A thermodynamic analysis of the hybrid cycle components was carried out. The 3RT-class prototype system has been installed. In this process, components were modeled in detail using mass, energy and species balances. With each component model, the entire cycle was simulated along with the determination of proper operating and experimental conditions. The 3RT-class prototype system was devised and tested in a laboratory facility. Many sorts of the reliability problems were solved and upgraded.
Ⅲ. Results and Recommendations
The hybrid system is expected to be applied for producing hot water for industrial process, as the hot water (or steam) is essential in most industrial processes. The CES applications, using industrial waste heat, linking a mid-size residential land development and/or a renewable energy use, is also expected.
