지체부자유학교 중도·중복장애 졸업생의 성인생활로의 전환에 관한 현상학적 연구

- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to find on life of physically challenged school graduates with severe and multiple disabilities. The qualitative research method used for this study was the phenomenological approach.
Fifteen physically challenged school graduates with severe and multiple disabilities participated in this study. Based on a 2-item questionnaire (for school education that they received) and one 5-item questionnaire (for life after school graduation of students with Severe and Multiple Disabilities ), the researcher conducted unstructured interviews individually with each participant.
All the interviews were recorded and transcribed by the researcher. The study was guided by Colaizzi's method for doing research. Based on the students' interviews, essential themes of experience emerged: needs of transition education based on the individualized education plan, no opportunities for employment and low wages, needs of assistive technology service, difficulties for using the facilities and center for the disabled, no opportunities for employment after the vocational education and training, meaningless leisure time, difficulty of using a means of transportation and no ways for the motorized wheelchair, limited support system only for welfare recipients, needs of the steady supports for medical services and rehabilitation, fear of the future etc.
Finally, this thesis concluded with discussions and recommendations for supporting people with severe and multiple disabilities based on the results of the study.
