Abstract
The trend of ornaments manufacturing has been changed into mass production system with automation facilities from handicraft manufacturing.
However, to meet the various needs of customers and to be competitive in jewelry industry, there are great necessity to have small quantity batch production system.
It is also necessary to focus on bringing out various new design patterns and prototypes. First of all, computer system and simulation with computer based applications need to be introduced for dealing with rapidly swift fashion and precision products that is hardly handled by men. Furthermore, it may help to lower labor costs and to be dominant in overseas competition.
Due to the above reasons, it is strongly recommended to utilize Jewel CAD, a computer application for jewelry design, which can be easily controlled and fast-learned program. This study also suggests companies train professionals with jewel CAD that they can put them into the fields immediately .
Examining how the present education and training was carried out in the study, there was no arranged curricula in schools. Additionally, jewel CAD has not been widely distributed in the fields to be taken as a main method for jewelry designing process.
Therefore, this study classified the education process into two parts, theoretical and practical courses.
Theoretical course contains introduction to design, designing methodology and the characteristics of jewel CAD.
Introduction chapter goes through the history of jewelry. methodology deals with the designing process and the ways of material expression.
Characteristics chapter is based on the features of the application.
Practical course consists of beginners, intermediate-level and masters course gradually.
After taking masters course, trainees should be able to utilize jewel CAD, so they can make a model design sample in virtual space.
Design companies may save some expenses and time for recruiting new qualified members. Besides, trainees don't a need long adaption period to their fields.
