Abstract

This treatise is to examine that how news materials utilizing internet through depth interview to nationwide newspaper reporters and local newspaper reporters as the destination affect data selecting system, labor environment, organization and position and what the differences are. Reporters were in common recognizing that technological characteristics of internet such as interactivity, simultaneity, mass sending and receiving of information and so on, became an essential tool of news gathering by promoting the efficiency of their job. However, in spite of advantages of internet news gathering, they thought that Internet must be utilized as the assistant means, not as the main means of news gathering because of the reliability of information. Nationwide newspaper reporters who are not many do not have great change in news gathering method of their coming and going places, but in the case of local newspaper reporters the visiting number of their coming and going places has been reduced and the method of coming and going has been changed as the one of visiting many places with staying at one place. The phenomenon that the area of news gathering limited in the sphere that can move physically in the past is crumbling appeared notedly to nationwide newspaper reporters. Reporters were recognizing that they were a little estranged in the relationship with news gatherers owing to the internet news gathering, but in order to confirm the fact matter the role of news gatherers was still important. Relationship change with news gatherers was different between nationwide newspaper reporters and local newspaper reporters. In the labor environment the working time of local newspaper reporters was shorter than nationwide newspaper reporters, but because of the shortage of laborers the intensity was higher. It was shown that the convenience of internet news gathering could function keeping a wick labor situation just as it was. Nationwide newspaper reporters recognized that due to the internet news gathering the reconstructing of indoor service employees was achieved, but local newspaper reporters considered that the change of organizations such as the merger and abolition of outdoor service employees as well as indoor service employees was greater. Specially, local newspaper reporters recognized that their position was weakened by advertisements, the additional job of sale business, the activation of internet news gathering, et cetera, beside news gathering. On the basis of the above results, this treatise summarizes that internet news gathering has changed news gathering system of traditional journalism, labor environment, the position of organization and members and that the difference between nationwide newspaper reporters and local newspaper reporters was greater in labor environment, organization and position than in news gathering system.
