Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine geochemical characteristics for stream sediments in the Cheongpung area.
We collected the stream sediments samples by wet sieving along the primary channels from April to June in 1999, and dried these samples slowly in the laboratory and rubbed in to under 200mesh using the alumina mortar for chemical analysis. Major elements, trace and rare earth elements were determined by XRF, ICP-AES, NAA analysis methods. For geochemical characteristics on geological group of stream sediments, we separated geologic groups which are derived from granitic gneiss area, metatic gneiss area, dado tuff area, yuchi conglomerate area, neungju flow area in the Cheongpung area.
Contents of major elements for stream sediments in the Cheongpung area range are SiO2 47.31~72.81wt.%, Al2O3 11.26~21.88wt.%, Fe2O3 2.83~8.39wt.%, CaO 0.342~7.54wt.%, MgO 0.55~3.59wt.%, K2O 1.71~4.31wt.%, Na2O 0.56~2.28wt.%, TiO2 0.46~1.24wt.%, MnO 0.04~0.27wt.%, P2O5 0.02~0.45wt.%.
Contents of trace and rare earth elements for stream sediments in the Cheongpung area range are Ba 700ppm~8990ppm, Be 1.0~3.50ppm, Cu 6.20~60ppm, Nb 12~28ppm, Ni 4.4~61ppm, Pb 13~34ppm, Sr 65~787ppm, V 4~98ppm, Zr 32~164ppm, Li 21~827ppm, Co 3.68~65ppm, Cr 16.7~409ppm, Cs 2.72~37.1ppm, Hf 4.99~49.2ppm, Rb 71.9~649ppm, Sb 0.16~5.03ppm, Sc 4.97~52ppm, Zn 26.3~375ppm, Pa 7.48~64.7ppm, Ce 60.6~373ppm, Eu 0.82~6ppm, Yb 0.71~10ppm.
