Abstract
This study was to observed the effect of Montessori sensation education program on mental retardation children's visual perception.
To achieve this aim, I selected 4 children who are identified as a mental retardation children studying in special school. After two weeks pre-education to adapt themselves to Montessori sensation education and then examined them on pre-test, post-test and follow-test for four months to inspect the effect of visual perception.
I used experimental instrument such as Montessori sensation education program. and then, used Korean Developmental Test of Visual Perception(K-DTVP-2) what is to know the effect of visual perception using eight subordinate level of on mental retardation children's visual perception as eye-hand coordination, position in space, copying, figure-ground, visual closure, visual-motor speed and form constancy.
I could get following results:
First, Montessori sensation education program was very effective on all visual perception section as visual closure(VC), visual-motor speed(VMS), form constancy(FC), spatial relation(SR), figure-ground(FG), copying(CO), position in space(PS) and eye-hand coordination(EHC).
especially, Visual closure(VC), visual-motor speed(VMS) and form constancy(FC) section was very effective, also spatial relation(SR), figure-ground(FG), copying(CO), position in space(PS) and eye-hand coordination(EHC) section was very effective but there is different result as child.
Second, Montessori sensation education program was very effective to improve mental retardation child’s motor-reduced visual perception ability.
Third, Montessori sensation education program was very effective to improve mental retardation child’s visual-motor integration ability.
