- Abstract
- These days, design using fiber materials are being developed rapidly. As many studies and design have been developed by designers or artists, this study is to develop new and creative bags in this era which creativity and characteristics are emphasized.
To face up with the fashion styles that are changing fast, we are to avoid popularity found from mass-production, and show distinctive and advanced design of bags using various techniques that can show individuality in a new sense.
So, this study examines theoretical background of a bag, its production and techniques. With uses of a techniques named mola that pursues modern and Korean image by overlapping of cloth with various colors, and a technique named slash that shows geometric changes of distinctive patterns and textures by using cloth with various colors, this study presents practical bags.
For the purpose, it uses the following patterns : long life and happiness, mandarin ducks, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and lotus blossoms for mola patterns and slash, bisection, quartering for the slash patterns.
As the mola and slash are not popularized yet in our country except for professional designers, its differentiated design shows a new prospect of fabric bags.
This study finds that if design or techniques are developed, we can produce lighter and more practical bags rather than leather bags, and if the fabric bags are developed as a cultural product that is harmonized with the fabric products of the 21st century, the value of fabric products in the 21st century which pursue for individuality will be improved.
