한국 창작발레의 발전양상과 안무적 성향

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 한국창작발레의 역사적 이해와 한국 창작발레의 방향에 대한 기초 자료를 제공하기 위하여 1980년대 이후 한국 창작발레의 발전양상을 살펴보고 주요 창작발레의 안무적 성향을 살펴보는데 두었다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 준 레이슨의 무용사 연구방법의 이론을 적용하여 창작발레의 역사적 발전양상을 토대로하여 1980년대부터 발행된 잡지, 선행연구 및 관련서적을 중심으로 우리의 창작발레의 안무적 성향을 분석하는 문헌연구의 방법을 채택하였다. 한국 창작발레의 주요 안무성향을 살펴보기 위한 본 연구의 대상과 범위는 (1)국립발레단, 광주시립무용단, 그리고 유니버설 발레단의 한국적 창작발레 작품들을 분석대상으로 삼았고, (2)분석대상의 창작발레는 작품의 주제가 한국적 소재를 담은 작품만을 선정하였고, (3)한국 창작발레가 거둔 구체적 성과와 앞으로의 과제에 대해 고찰하였다. 분석결과 한국 창작발레는 1980년대 이후 등 주로 극적인 요소를 지닌 대작 중심의 한국적 창작발레가 많이 시도되었지만 한국의 민화나 설화를 바탕으로 한 작품이어서 창작소재 편중 현상이 문제점으로 나타났다. 주요 창작발레에 나타난 분석결과를 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국 창작발레의 발전 양상은 대부분 클래식 발레의 재안무(재구성 포함)에 치중되어 있었으며 점차 레파토리화되어가고 있다. 둘째, 한국적 창작발레는 한국적 혹은 민족적인 것에 얽매여 그 소재가 민화나 설화에 치중되는 현상을 보였다. 셋째, 1980년대 이후 만들어진 주요 창작발레는 현재 각 발레단의 레파토리로 정착되지 못하여 이들 작품에 대한 보전 차원에서 레파토리화 작업이 절실히 요구되고 있다.|The purpose of this study was to examine the historical development and choreographic trends in Korean creative ballets since 1980, especially focusing the National Ballet Company, Kwangju City dance company, and Universal ballet Company. The results of this study are as follow. First, in the early 1980's identification of traditional values caused Korean ballet to change. Korean ballet became to have various subjects such as folk tales and legend that are based on Korean traditional cultural remains. An attempt to set up the national ballet by linking Korean traditional folk dance, costumes, and theatrical accessories to ballet arose once. Second, as small theatre movement spread out, there were new approaches to expression. These were new attempts to try stage settings and lights to apply various subjects and techniques of psychological descriptions. Third, Korean creative ballets were influenced by the Asian games in 1986, the Olympic Games in 1988, and the year of dance in 1992. It made public to choose and understand performances wider and better, ballet became one of public arts. Thus, Korean creative ballet should not only use Korean traditional dance, costumes, and songs in ballet, but also express dancer's thoughts and will be based on Korean people's mind and characteristics of their lives.
