호남지방 지상기상관측망 최적 구성에 관한 연구

This study analyzes the condition of weather observing equipments in Honam district and investigates the optimum observing constitution. These are related to the establishment of the observing service standardization.
The total area of Honam district is approximately 20,000 ㎢ and about 700 observing equipments are installed. Suppose that they are distributed equally, the average distance of each equipment is about 5.4 ㎞. Although it is more favorable than nation's basic observing distance 15 ㎞, it is meaningless because the public offices' observing equipments are installed unequally by districts.
To secure the optimum observing system in Honam district, we can constitute both a standard observing system which focuses on 126 AWSes of the meteorological office and 290 compositive observing systems which come from the local autonomous entities' 376 rain gauges, except for 86 which are duplicate installed with the meterological office. Consequently, as the average distance becomes 6.9 ㎞, the density increases.
But it is necessary to improve the environment of installation and management in the local autonomous entities.
Our observation aims to install the short-time forecast system constitution and local weather observing system which can forecast and watch a large-scale gamma phenomenon that causes most of the weather calamities. We also need rainfall information weather radar (observed in Jindo, Osoengsan, Muan), and a technique to expand the observable area to the sea by using precipitation index from a satellite.
