In this paper, we presented the research on relevance of between the characteristic of Senior Club and job satisfaction for an aging society. It is very important aspect that some of the determining factors influence 'job satisfaction' for employed by senior clubs.
Research Method:
88 senior clubs nationwide as of August, 2011. were subject to the research. 450 of senior club employees responded, including paid volunteers and full-time employees, however, part-time employees were excluded in accordance with the circumstances of the organizations.
Analysis Method:
The data obtained from this research were statistically treated by SPSS WIN 16.0 program. For each independent variable of 'job satisfaction', the relationship and the difference between each category of lower scale were analysed. The typical demographic variables such as age, education were restricted to minimize its influence on the analysis of organization environment and other work factors effect on 'job satisfaction'. The analysis held a statistically meaningful result based on multiple regression at p<0.05 level.
It is result degree of certificate for social work is the most common reason why they are working in the clubs as 32.5% of respondents answered so. Employees who have worked in senior clubs for less than 1 year account for 44.6%. 25.3% of the employees take charge of the team leader position. Monthly average salary of 33.7% of the employees is between KRW 1million and KRW 1.3million. This result urges the clubs to develop more effective vocational training programs. The research shows that 46.4% of the employees have every Saturday off.
In terms of work environments of the clubs, social welfare corporation accounts for 50.6% of parent corporation types. 28.3% answered that the influence from parent corporations is average. 13-15 projects are carried out in 26.5% of senior clubs. 43.4% responded that local residents consider the organization rather positive.
Satisfaction of employees' duties shows 3.2079 in the average, a little above median. While it showed higher satisfaction than median in some categories such as supervision (average: 3.5736), colleagues (average: 3.5321), job duties (average: 3.5313), and change of occupation (average: 3.3574), there is lower satisfaction showing in facilities (average: 2.9755), promotion (average: 2.8422) and salary (average: 2.6431).
Factors Analysis and Alternative Plans:
We have learned that demographic traits of employees, overtime work as well as frequency and effectiveness of vocational trainings affect how the employees of the senior clubs feel about their jobs in senior clubs.
Therefore, it would be important for senior clubs to gradually reduce working hours by having efficient allotment of task and task management. The organization will also have to pursuit maximized public benefit by developing vocational training programs and carrying them out to strengthen human resource power. Moreover, in order to enhance employee's satisfaction of their duties, ensuring enough budgets to create jobs and to reward employees with appropriate salary will be needed.
Conclusion:
This paper was conducted with the result of the total number survey among senior club employees. It might not clearly represent overall satisfaction of senior clubs' employees since the organization has a 5 years, quite short history. Nevertheless, senior clubs have to examine thoroughly to cultivate professional social workers specialized in senior careers along with job creating project for seniors, and then the organization would be genuine social work place where senior workers actively and constantly participate in with appropriate payment.
