ABSTRACT

The Effects of Person-Environment Fit on
the Job Satisfaction and Customer-Oriented Behavior
- Focusing on the Hospital Employees -

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of person-environment fit focusing person-organization, person-supervisor, person-coworker fit on the job satisfaction and customer-oriented behavior. Recently it becomes to extent the concept of person-organization fit into further person-environment fit. furthermore, The field study examined the relationship between perceived person-environment fit and the employees attitudes has not much researched.

To obtain data for a practical analysis, 300 copies of questionnaires were distributed among employees in Hospital and General Hospital for three weeks. Along them, 232 copies were collected with the collection rate of 77.3%. The 12 questionnaires were excluded from the analysis because they were found to be worthless as statistical data due to the ommission of some questionnaire items and distinctive subjectivity. The number of questionnaire that were really used for the analysis is 220 copies with valid response rate of 73%.
The data were analyzed with SPSS/PC+ 12.0

The findings of hypothesis tests can be summed up as follows:
First, the analysis shows that person-organization, person-supervisor, person-coworker fit make positive effects on job satisfaction and customer-oriented behavior.
Second, the analysis shows that person-organization, person-supervisor fit make positive effects on customer-oriented behavior.
Third, the analysis shows that job satisfaction make positive effects on customer-oriented behavior.
Forth, the analysis shows that job satisfaction make positive effects on customer-oriented behavior through the partial mediation.
