Abstract
In this thesis, the influence of social gender role of a leader on job satisfaction and organizational commitment is investigated. The female and male subjects of this gender role type study are sampled from staff members of post offices located in various parts of Gwangju city and Jeonnam province. The female leader subjects and the male leader subjects are compared.
The independent variables used for quantifying the degree of social gender role are 1) gender role types, i.e., feminine type and masculine type , 2) bi-gender type, and 3)non-specifiable type; while the dependent variables used are 1) job satisfaction and 2) organizational commitment.
The investigation study has presented two meaningful results:
1) Among two social gender role types of the male leaders, the feminine type has a meaningful influence on the job satisfaction while the organizational commitment is strongly affected by the masculine type.
2) Among two social gender role types of the female leader, both of job satisfaction and organizational commitment are strongly influenced by the feminine type.
3) Furthermore, the job satisfaction and the organizational commitment of organization staff members are affected by a unique gender role type, regardless of the female or male leader.
From this gender role type study performed on both gender leaders, it becomes clear that the prejudice on any specific gender role should be avoided. Moreover, the study strongly suggests that biological 'sex' role does not subordinate the social 'gender' role while there several other factors that could have any influence on the results of the study.
