어린이 대상 온라인 영어 도서관 분석

Abstract

본 연구의 연구주제는 국내 어린이 대상 온라인 영어 도서관이며, 목적은 어린이를 대상으로 하는 온라인 영어 도서관의 형식 및 내용을 분석하고 교육적 시사점을 찾는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 온라인 영어 도서관 중 대표적인 특징을 가진 네 곳을 대상으로 하여 그 특징을 살펴보았다. 그 중 세 곳은 국내, 한 곳은 해외로 PC 또는 모바일 환경에서 실행이 되었다. 대부분 이미지, 소리, 녹음기 등의 기능은 가지고 있었고 비디오나 해설은 일부 차이가 있었다. 학습 기능면에서는 모두 학습기록은 있으나 메모장, 이메일, SNS 기능은 없었다. 다른 학습자와의 협동학습은 어려우나 관리교사 또는 학부모의 메시지는 가능한 구조로 되어있다. 학습유형은 회사에 따라 각자 특성이 달랐다. 스토리텔링적 요소로는 목소리의 차별화, 성격의 반영 및 모드의 선택은 대부분 있었으나 읽기진행 조절은 없는 곳이 많았다. 어휘 지도 및 학습 관련해서는 어휘지식 점검은 모두 있으나 사전, 철자 인식, 학습 활동은 양과 유형 면에서 차이가 나타났다. 온라인 영어 도서관은 그 확산속도가 높고 영향력이 큼에도 이러한 평가와 개발, 발전을 위한 지표는 많지 않다. 또한 가격면에서 사회취약계층에는 접근이 어렵기도 하다. 학교 및 지자체 차원에서 취약계층을 위한 온라인 도서관 이용을 도와주는 방안과 향후 더 질적 발전을 위하여 많은 연구가 필요하겠다.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the English online library in terms of technical, language learning, and language learning content aspects. This study investigated four different English online libraries for young learners. The results showed that the online libraries are technically well equipped with the story text and reading, but collaborative learning opportunities were limited. Instead of interacting with other learners, teachers or parents are allowed to provide feedback. Each company offered different learning styles. For language learning content aspect, the areas of storytelling and vocabulary were analyzed. It is suggested that the schools and local government should assist socially disadvantaged students to use English online library.
