Abstract
The ability to generate small structures is central to modern science and technology. Recently as many researchers make several studies of micro-/nano-scale patterns fabrication using PDMS (Polydimethylsiloxane). PDMS is a widely used material for replicating micro-/nano-structures because of its flexibility, deformability, and easy fabrication. In this paper, micropatterned elastomeric PDMS molds were fabricated via various routes using soft lithography method. Then, microneedles arrays were manufactured using elastomeric PDMS mold by casting technique. The surface properties and the mechanical properties of micropatterned elastomeric PDMS were investigated by contact angle, hardness of surface, and flexibility of PDMS. The morphology of the microneedles was investigated with a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The hardness on the surface of elastomeric PDMS mold was decreased by increasing the amount of AK35(C) for use as a silicone plasticizer. Also, the flexibility of elastomeric PDMS mold was increased by increasing the amount of AK35(C).
