- Abstract
- In this study, we tried to find out the effect of English classes using the animated film "Rapunzel" on English listening ability and interest. To find out this, an experiment class was conducted for 7 elementary school 6th graders for 4 weeks, and the following results were obtained. First, there was no significant difference in pre- and post-listening ability for classes using animated movies. This seems to be because the students' ability to achieve English listening was already at the upper level. Second, classes using animated films had a positive effect on students' interests. It was confirmed through interviews that I gained confidence in English through various activities and that I developed an active learning attitude by participating with learners of my age. In addition, it can be said that the reluctance to watch movies without Korean subtitles was reduced by combining the existing information and the English version through familiar animation. The results presented in this study show that it can be very effective in terms of affectiveness. However, in terms of listening skills, students' listening skills should be verified by using more detailed test papers. In addition, it is necessary to secure the diversity of themes that can be used in classes with animated films. Finally, there is a need for research on the development of textbooks and activities using animated films. Multilateral research should be conducted on textbooks that can positively influence all areas of English.
