개혁 개방 정책과 한 중 수교가 중국 언론의 한국 관련 뉴스 보도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

China launched the reform-&-opening policy in 1978. Korea and China established diplomatic relations in 1992. This study content-analyzed the news reports of Chinese mass media about Korea in order to find out any influences of China’s reform-&-opening policy and the establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries on the news reports of Chinese mass media about Korea. Since the implementation of the reform-&-opening policy in China, the amount of the news reports of Chinese media about Korea has increased rapidly in such fields as politics, society, culture, and sports. Traditionally China was socialistic country, but the reform-&-opening policy drastically changed China as the policy brought the market economy to the country. Chinese mass media began to show keen interest in various fields of Korea. Although the two countries did not share common areas of interest before the diplomatic relations in 1992, the reform-&-opening policy relieved the tensions between two countries caused by the ideological differences. There was no substantial exchanges before the two countries entered into the diplomatic relations, but the detente appeared to cause China to change its attitude on Korea. The establishment of Korea-China diplomatic relations encouraged the Chinese mass media to pour out news about Korea massively. Chinese mass media did not confine their interest in Korea to the field of politics, but broadened their views to the fields of economy, society, culture, and sports. The mainstream mass media such as 『The People’s Daily』 did not make exclusive reports about Korea, but numerous other minor mass media jumped into the reporting of the news about Korea. The Chinese people were able to get news in easy and rapid manner as they entered into the Internet era in full scale in the early 2000s, and Chinese non-mainstream mass media could meet the people’s such needs of news, and particularly news about Korea. The data content-analyzed for this study was not systematical random sample from the entire news about Korea during the study period, so the data of this study does not represent the entire news report properly. The restrictions on the internet sites of the mainstream mass media including 『The People’s Daily』, and enormous amount of information on Internet in overly lengthy period of study prevented systematic approach to the collection and random sampling of the data. Future studies should have preparatory time enough to design the study more systematically.
