Abstract
Recently, there has been a concern about the possibility of a super typhoon regarding the global climate change. Accordingly, the procedures for reaffirming the safety of nuclear power plant have been required. In this study, the typhoon-surge characteristics in the East Coast was reviewed, and then the extreme water level at the Gori nuclear power plant was examined. For this purpose, a standardized typhoon derived from frequency analysis of wind-speed was constructed and corresponding surge height was calculated by using the ADCIRC numerical model. Verification of the model with set-up of the standard typhoon tracks was carried out. Ultimately, not only a disaster level curve was presented but also probable maximum water level was proposed.
