Abstract
As a result of the study, it was found that male students consumed more carbonated beverages than female students and were less aware of nutrition labels. In addition, it was found that non-dormitory students had a lower frequency of fruit intake and a higher frequency of eating out than dormitory students. These results suggest that additional nutrition labeling awareness education for male students and nutrition education for non-dormitory students are necessary for high school students to maintain a healthy diet.
Looking at the health status of the subjects, the proportion of male students who thought they were healthy was higher than that of female students, and the proportion of female students who recognized that they were slightly overweight was higher than male students in self-perception of body shape. Therefore, it is necessary to provide education and counseling on physical health and correct healthy weight awareness for female students.
In addition, non-dormitory students showed higher smartphone usage and usage time than dormitory students. Dormitory students seem to show less use by students as they control their smartphones at school. Therefore, it is difficult for non-dormitory students to control their smartphone usage outside of school, but it is necessary to help them control their smartphone usage time by themselves by providing education and counseling to control smartphone usage.
Recently, as various foods are produced, indiscriminate snack intake is being made. As snacks are used to replace meals, proper nutrition is not supplied during the growth period, or when snacks are consumed after meals, overnutrition is increasing. According to the results, male students had the highest snack intake while playing smartphones or games, and female students had the highest snack intake while studying or doing homework. In addition, since dormitory students are controlled by the time they use their smartphones, it was found that the highest rate was found when studying or doing homework. On the other hand, non-dormitory students often consumed snacks when using smartphones. This suggests that it is necessary to educate non-dormitory male students on snack intake and self-control of indiscriminate snack intake.
Looking at the frequency of frequently purchased snacks, it can be seen that both male and female students, dormitory and non-dormitory students, frequently consume bread and noodles. This result shows the need for nutrition education on the proper intake of carbohydrates or high-fructose corn syrup. It is thought that education on nutrition labeling is necessary so that students can recognize the importance of proper nutrition intake and purchase the right food. Therefore, adolescence is a starting point that influences lifelong habits, and it is necessary to make people aware of proper nutrition intake, and to increase the quality of proper snack purchase and intake by themselves.
Since this thesis targeted students from some regions in Jeonnam, it is difficult to say that it is representative of all university students in the country. In view of the imbalance in the gender ratio among the total of 258 respondents, 150 male and 108 female, it is necessary for follow-up research to consider the male and female gender ratio. You need to conduct a survey. This study aims to confirm the status of high school students' snack intake according to gender and housing type, and to provide basic data for healthy daily life and improvement of eating habits. There is a need to conduct additional research for this.
