현대 대나무공예에 활용 가능한 편조기법 패턴 연구

Abstract

대나무는 매년 수확이 가능하고 용도가 다양하여 일상생활에 유용한 자원으로 활용 가치가 높은 친환경 소재이다. 죽세공예뿐만 아니라 섬유질이 풍부하여 성인병 예방에 효능이 있는 죽순과 댓잎을 이용한 음료, 식재료 등 여러 가지 식품으 로 사용하고 있으며 대나무 숯은 방습, 항균성이 있어 우리 생활 여러 곳에서 다양하게 쓰이고 있다. 또한 관광산업의 주요자원으로도 활용되고 있으며 빠르게 변하는 현대인의 지친 심신을 안정시켜주고 휴식을 제공하기도 한다. 뿐만 아니라 최근에는 가구 및 인테리어소재와 건축자재에까지 대나무를 활용하는 움직임이 날로 늘어가고 있으며 세계는 지금 환경에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 지속가능한 대체재로써의 대나무에 관심을 갖고 다방면으로 활용하기 위한 노력을 진행하고 있다. 본 연구는 친환경 소재인 대나무를 가늘게 쪼개고 얇게 떠서 사용하는 죽세공예의 여러 가지 기법 중 편조기법에 활용되고 있는 다양한 패턴들의 종류와 활용도에 대해 연구하였다. 전통으로만 여겨졌던 죽세공예품을 다양한 편조기법의 패턴들 을 활용해 현대 라이프 사이클에 맞는 일상 생활용품으로 창작 하였다. 이와 같이 죽세공예 편조기법의 다양한 패턴을 활용한 생활용품들을 창작하기에 앞서 이론적 고찰을 통해 도출한 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 죽세공예가 발달했던 담양지역의 죽세공예 발달 역사와 죽세공예 재료인 대나무 분포 지역 및 종류별 특성을 파악하였다. 죽세공예는 다른 공예와는 달리 재료를 직접 가공해야만 하는 공예로 대나무 가공하는 과정을 자세하게 다루었으 며 염색 방법을 파악하기 위해 문헌과 선행 연구를 근거로 고찰하였다. 둘째, 죽세공예 편조기법으로 표현할 수 있는 패턴의 종류를 국내·외 사례연구 및 외국의 참고 서적을 고찰하여 정리하였다. 그 결과 현재 죽세공예를 하고 있는 여러 나라들은 거의 비슷한 패턴을 사용하고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 패턴의 명칭 은 짜인 모양이 도형의 모양과 같아 이름 지어진 것으로 추측되는 사각형 패턴, 육각형 패턴과 팔각형 패턴 등이 있었다. 그리고 우리 주변에서 흔하게 접할 수 있는 자연물이나 사물 등의 이름을 본 따 지어진 것으로 추측되는 별 패턴, 마엽 패턴, 거북이 등껍질과 같다고 해서 귀갑 패턴을 비롯해 해바라기바닥 패턴, 국화꽃 패턴, 파도 패턴 등으로 기본적인 패턴은 거의 정형화된 패턴들을 사용하고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 셋째, 죽세공예 편조기법중 제품의 바닥 부분과 몸통 부분에 주로 활용되고 있는 패턴을 문헌과 인터넷 자료들을 통해 고찰하였다. 주로 바닥 패턴으로 사용하는 국화바닥 패턴, 해바라기바닥 패턴, 별 패턴과 사방 망대 패턴을 제외하고는 바닥과 몸통을 병행하여 다양하게 활용할 수 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 그리고 작업의 완성도를 결정하는 가장 중요한 과정인 마무리 기법으로는 갱기대 마무리, 테대 마무리, 세할(細割)테 마무리, 자연 마무리 기법이 있는 것으로 파악 되었다. 넷째, 작품제작 및 해설에서는 작품에 필요한 재료 준비와 작업 의도를 밝히고 아이디어 스케치 및 도안을 준비한 다음 죽세공예 편조기법으로 작업한 작업과정과 작품 설명으로 진행하였다. 다섯째, 죽세공예 편조기법의 다양한 패턴들을 활용하여 7개의 작품을 창작하여 제시하였다. 자연 소재인 대오리가 교차되면서 형성하는 기하학적인 선의 아름다움을 극대화시켜 표현하였다. 조명을 비롯한 본 연구의 작품들은 일반가정을 비롯해 한옥의 다실 등 다양한 공간에서 활용할 수 있는 현대 라이프 사이클에 맞는 제품으로 지속적인 디자인 개발에 대한 연구의 필요성을 느꼈다. 끝으로, 죽세공예를 하면서 사용하고 있는 적지 않은 용어들은 일제 강점기에 사용했던 언어들로 현재까지 그대로 사용하고 있는 실정이다. 그러므로 현장에서 본업으로 작업하고 있는 연구자에 의해 자주 사용하고 있는 용어 정리와 죽세공예 패턴에 관한 종류와 활용도에 대한 연구가 부족하나마 시작되었다는 데 의의를 두고 싶다. 그리고 전통공예에 머물러 있는 죽세공예가 한 발 더 내딛기 위해선 현대인들의 니즈에 맞는 디자인 개발이 절실히 필요하며 한국대나무박물관 내에 맞춤 형 죽세공예 전문 양성기관이 설립되어 지속적인 교육을 통한 연구 및 개발이 젊은 작가들에 의해 이루어지길 간절히 소망해 본다.|Bamboo is an eco-friendly material that is highly valuable as a resource useful for everyday life because it can be harvested every year and has various uses. In addition to bamboo crafts, it, using its part such as bamboo shoots effective in preventing adult diseases and bamboo leaves contained high fiber, is used as various foods, drinks or food ingredients. Besides, bamboo charcoal is used in various places in our lives because of its moisture-proof and antibacterial. Furthermore, It is also used as a major resource for the tourism industry, providing rest and stabilizing the tired mind and body of modern people arise from rapid change. In addition, recently, the use of bamboo for furniture, interior materials, and building materials is increasing day by day, and the world is now interested in bamboo as a sustainable alternative making efforts to use it in various ways. This study is focused on the types and utilization of bamboo crafts‘ various patterns used in the weaving techniques, among the various techniques of bamboo crafts that use bamboo, an eco-friendly material, by thinly split and sliced. In this study, bamboo crafts, which were considered only traditional, were created as daily necessities suitable for the modern life cycle by using various patterns of weaving techniques. In this way, the contents derived from theoretical consideration before creating household products using various patterns of bamboo craft weaving techniques are as follows. First, I studied history of the bamboo crafts’ development in Damyang, where bamboo crafts were advanced, and the distribution area and characteristics of bamboo, materials of bamboo crafts. Unlike other crafts, bamboo crafts are crafts that can only be made by processing raw materials called bamboo to make products. For this reason, material preparation was an important process, and the steps of processing the material used in bamboo crafts was dealt with in detail and studies to understand the dyeing method were considered based on literature and previous. Second, I summarized certain types of patterns that can be expressed through the bamboo craft weaving technique by examining domestic and foreign case studies, and foreign reference books. As a result, it was found that several countries currently performing bamboo crafts use almost the same pattern. The names of the patterns were square patterns, hexagonal patterns, and octagonal patterns, which are presumed to have been named because the woven shape was the same as the shape of the figure. In addition, it was found that the basic patterns such as the earplugs pattern, sunflower floor pattern, chrysanthemum pattern, and wave pattern, etc. which are believed to have been named after natural objects or objects commonly encountered around us, are almost standardized. Third, as a result of examining the patterns mainly used in the bottom and body parts of the product through studies and Internet datum, it was found that the most of the patterns can be used in floor and body parts of the product in various ways, except for chrysanthemum floor patterns, sunflower floor patterns, star patterns, and square net patterns. What‘s more, it was found that there are most important finishing techniques determining the completeness of the work, which were Gan-ggi-dae finishing, rim finishing, Sehalte finishing, and natural finishing techniques. Fourth, in the production and commentary of the work, the preparation of materials necessary for the work and intentions were revealed. After idea sketches and designs were prepared, the process and explanations of work used bamboo crafting techniques were described. Fifth, seven works using various patterns of bamboo craft weaving techniques are presented. Works that maximize the beauty of geometric lines formed by crossing the natural materials of Daeori were found to be suitable for modern life-cycle. It can be used in various spaces such as homes, tea rooms in Han-ok, making me feel the need for continuous design development. Finally, not a few terms used in bamboo crafts are used during the Japanese colonial period and still being used until now. Therefore, it is meaningful that research on the types and uses of patterns, arrangement of terms frequently used in the field, and bamboo craft knitting techniques has begun. In order for bamboo crafts remaining in traditional crafts to take a step forward, it is necessary to develop designs that meet the needs of modern people. I sincerely hope that research and development with continuous education will be carried out by young artists by establishing an institution specializing in customized bamboo crafts in the Korea Bamboo Museum
