- Abstract
- This paper aims to analyze the images and contents of "old" and "white hair" in the late Goryeo Dynasty to the late Joseon Dynasty, and to point out the expressions of emotions the elderly feel as they get older.
People are bound to get old and retire someday. Then, they try to find various means and methods to escape the fear of death, but there is no other alternative. How did the old people try to accept this process in the founder? What is the difference between the emotional expression of the old and the emotional expression of the modern?
The old people seem to have used a lot of humorous expressions to deny old age, and the elderly are singing a lot of songs that look back on their past lives with "white hair" and miss their youth and regret their lives that have passed by. On the one hand, he regrets his dissipated life when he was young and does not forget the advice of filial piety and affection between parents and brothers to young people. He also shows self-reflection and shows vigilance to young people. On the other hand, it can be seen that the Confucian idea at the bottom also contains some works that teach young people about respect and filial piety and loyalty to the elderly.
Chapter II examines the subject classification method included in the "Mr. Mumyeong" item of Kim cheon taek's Cheonggu Young-eon.
54 main words were classified in the category of Isaac Daeyeop's Mumyeong, and they were evenly classified into 1 to 6 works for each main word. There are 104 works included in each subject word, and only works directly related to 'white hair' will be selected and analyzed.
Chapter III selects 157 songs with the vocabulary of "white hair" from 46,400 songs collected by Kim Heung-gyu and six others and included in "Goshijo Daejeon" to show lament about old age, changed appearance, and a day of leisure to young people after retirement.
Chapter IV examines age and death through the function of gray hair. Among the poems symbolized by death, gray hair and oldness tell us that life is not far away. "In fact, old age is a sadness in life. Who would praise old age and welcome death? Life contains sadness, so life is like dew at the end of grass and is fleeting," Shim Jae-wan said, comparing death and life to dew at the end of grass and speaks of futility and fleeting. We will also look at what is in the consciousness of death in the relationship between gray hair and death. In the sijo, it is described that the elderly spend their days in psychological anxiety. These expressions may be conventional, but in reality, the elderly are bound to suffer a lot of mental atrophy as they get older. I would like to examine the meaning of old people living in anxiety and fear and death. Let's also look at what they think of the afterlife after death. Death is fair to everyone. And it is an irresistible necessity. Old age is thought to be the last stop in life. I think you should have self-reflection and face the afterlife.Key words: white hair, old age, old man, death, afterlife.
