Abstract
Both China and the United States are the world's leading exporters of agricultural products. The United States has been the world's largest exporter of agricultural products, ranking first in the world in 2009 at $71.6 billion, according to the United Nations Commodity Trade Database. In recent years, our agricultural export trade has also developed rapidly. In 2009, China's agricultural export volume was 32.6 billion US dollars, second only to the United States, the European Union and Brazil, and has become the fourth largest agricultural product exporter in the world.
Korea is also a major exporter of agricultural products from the U.S. and China. In 2008, China exported 3.2 billion U.S. dollars to Korea, the largest source of agricultural imports from Korea, and the second largest source of agricultural imports from the U.S. at $3 billion. As Korea's two major sources of agricultural imports, competition between China and the U.S. cannot be avoided. Meanwhile, the upcoming free trad.
As agricultural products of the U.S. and China are similar and competitive in the Korean market, the Korea-U.S. FTA is expected to make Chinese agricultural products more difficult to export to the
Korean market. With the Korea-U.S. FTA coming into effect, Korea will immediately or gradually abolish most of its U.S. agricultural products and replace Chinese agricultural products with U.S. agricultural products, reducing the trade volume of Korea-China agricultural products.
On July 6, 2018, the U.S. government imposed a 25% tariff on $34 billion worth of Chinese goods. At the same time, China's anti-Japanese measures have begun. The trade war between the world's two largest economies has begun. The original U.S. tariff on China is estimated to be 50 billion U.S. dollars on 1106 items, and 16 billion U.S. dollars on 288 items were put into effect on July 16, 2018, and 200 billion dollars worth of tariffs will be imposed in September. Eventually, the $200 billion worth of compensatory.
This study will examine the structure of the U.S.-China agricultural trade, analyze the current status of the two countries, and examine the comparative advantage and competitiveness of U.S. and Chinese agricultural products. The paper will be carried out through analysis methods such as market share index(MS), trade-specific index (TS1), and country comparative advantage (CAC), and statistics without the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) Korea Agriculture Ministry, China Commerce Ministry, etc.
