드로잉의 선(線)과 행위 요소를 통한 이미지 확장 연구

Abstract

본 논문에서는 연구자가 새로운 이미지와 아이디어를 찾기 위해 시도했던 ‘100일 드로잉’의 계기와 변화 과정, 결과를 밝히고, 100일 드로잉의 과정에서 연구자의 작업에 드러난 선(線)과 행위에 대해 이론적 배경과 선행작가를 연구한다. 아울러 드로잉의 선과 행위 요소를 작품에 적용하는 방식을 연구자가 익혔던 무예와 서예의 특성과 연관 지어 설명하고 작업의 주제인 자유를 자발성의 의미에서 고찰한다. ‘100일 드로잉’은 작품의 표현에서 한계를 느꼈던 연구자가 100일 동안 연달아 그리는 방식으로 목탄과 연필 드로잉에 이어 다양한 재료실험까지 시도했던 과정의 명칭이다. 연구자는 거듭된 시도와 체득을 통해 행위가 작품의 결과에 영향을 미치는 것을 알게 되고, 행위에 몰입하여 표현한 선(線)에서 에너지를 감지하게 된다. 이와 연관하여 동양에서 무위무아의 행위 가운데 몰입하여 얻어내는 선의 힘인‘골기’와 현대미술에서 무의식적인 행위로 발산하는 에너지를 그림에 담아낸 ‘액션페인팅’을 선행하여 연구한다. 선행작가로는 화면에 선을 부각하여 행위적 드로잉을 했던 잭슨 폴록과 사이 톰블리를 중심으로 탐구한다. 동양 작가로는 반복하는 행위로 명상적인 작업을 하는 이배와 마츠타니 타케사다의 작업방식과 작품에 대해 고찰한다. 선행연구에 이어 연구자의 작업에 대해 작품 형성 배경, 작업의 형태로서 선과 행위, 작품에 담긴 의미를 차례로 고찰한다. 작품의 형성 배경으로는 표현의 한계를 극복하기 위해 100일 드로잉을 했던 과정, 방법, 결과 등을 기술한다. 선과 행위에 대한 분석은 전통 무예의 행위에서 비롯한 곡선과 서예에서 습득한 기운생동한 선의 콤포지션을 중심으로 서술한다. 작품에 담긴 의미를 분석하는 장에서는 전체주의적인 가치관과 규범이 내면화되는 사회 시스템에 대한 문제점을 지적하고 그 안에서 자유롭고 주체적인 인간으로 살 수 있는 대안으로 예술과 상상력을 제시한다. ‘무한에 대한 상상’이라는 주제로 열었던 개인전의 작품과 작가노트를 통해 연구자의 주제인 자발성의 의미에서 자유가 어떤 방식으로 화면에 표현되는지 살피고 관객과의 소통에 대해서도 말한다. 선의 내용 분석인‘과정을 그리는 선’에서는 연구자의 곡선과 나선이 변증법적 역사의 발전이라는 시대의 흐름을 어떻게 반영하는지 보고 그 의미를 찾는다.|In this paper, the researcher shows the process and results of the '100-day drawing' that the researcher tried to create a new image and studied on the theoretical background and previous artists the lines and actions revealed in the researcher's work in the course of 100 days of drawing. In addition, the method of lines and actions applied to the work is explained in relation to the characteristics of martial arts and calligraphy that the researcher has learned, and study freedom, the theme of the work, in terms of spontaneity. ‘100 Days Drawing’ is the name of the process in which a researcher who felt limited in the expression of his work tried to experiment with many ohter materials as well as charcoal and pencil by drawing continuously for 100 days. Through repeated trials and acquisitions, the researcher learns that actions affect the results of the work, and detects energy in the lines expressed while immersed in the action. In connection with this, the researcher study 'Golgi' which is the power of line obtained by immersion in meditative actions in the East, and 'action painting' which captures the energy emitted by unconscious actions in contemporary art. As preceding artists, this study focuses on Jackson Pollock and Cy Twombly who drew action by emphasizing lines on the screen. As an oriental artist, this study examines the work methods and works of Lee Bae and Matsutani Takesada who perform meditative works through repetitive acts. Next, the researcher studied the background of the formation of the work, the lines and actions as a form of work, and the meaning contained in the work sequentially. As the background of the work, it describes the process, method, and result of 100 days of drawing that attempted to overcome the limitations of expression. The analysis of lines and actions focuses on the composition of lively lines acquired from traditional martial arts actions and calligraphy. In the chapter the subject of the work is analyzed, the researcher points out the problems about the social system in which totalitarian values and norms are internalized, and suggests art and imagination as alternatives to live as free and independent human beings. Through the works of the solo exhibition held under the theme of ‘Imagination of Infinity’ and the artist’s notes, the researcher examines how the researcher’s subject, freedom, is expressed on the screen, and also talks about communication with the audience. In ‘Lines that Draw Processes’, the researcher find the meaning by looking at how the curves and spirals used by researchers reflect the flow of the times of the development of dialectical history.
