Abstract
The purpose of this study is to review Rawls' interpretation of Kant's moral philosophy based on his 'Lectures on the History of Moral Philosophy'.
Rawls interpreted Kant's moral philosophy in a constructivist's way. For such work, Rawls uses the method of comparing the rational intuitionism. The moral constructivism is based on autonomy, like the rational intuitionism. And Rawls distinguished his political constructivism from Kant's moral constructivism.
In order to realistically apply Kant's categorical imperative to his procedure of interpretation, Rawls introduces the concept of 'categorical imperative procedure'. It is a procedure for application of the universal law to the moral reality. According to Rawls, the categorical imperative procedure lies as the fact of reason.
He uses the categorical imperative procedure to divide Kant's categorical imperative formula into the formula of the universal law, the formula of humanity and the formula of autonomy.
Such interpretation of Rawls' may well be significant in that it has provided for a procedure of applying Kant's moral philosophy to our diverse specific world of life.
