박중빈과 비롤리 철학에 나타난 자유관 연구

Abstract

이 논문의 목적은 박중빈과 비롤리의 철학에 나타난 자유관을 종합적으로 분석함으로써 그 자유관의 덕 교육적 의의를 규명하는 것이다. 박중빈과 비롤리의 자유관은 각각 사은론과 공화주의를 토대로 형성된다. 박중빈은 천지은·부모은·동포은·법률은 등의 사은을 현실에 맞게 사용한다. 비롤리는 자유와 덕을 중시하는 공화주의를 시대에 부합하도록 재해석한다. 박중빈과 비롤리는 자유를 이해하는 면에서 공통점을 드러낸다. 그들이 말하는 자유는 구속이 없는 것이다. 이때 구속 없음이란 사욕을 통제하면서 동시에 타인에 의한 억압에서 해방되는 것을 의미한다. 이 때문에 그들은 자유를 방임으로 보는 소극적 관점을 비판하고, 자유를 사욕을 통제하는 것으로 보는 적극적 관점을 수용한다. 그들은 자유를 실현하기 위하여 덕과 법이 필요할 것으로 생각한다. 특히 그들은 덕의 형성을 중시한다. 그들에 의하면 덕을 형성하기 위해 사회의 평등이 필요하다. 사회가 평등할 때 개인은 덕을 형성하고자 하는 동기를 지니기 때문이다. 또한 그들에 따르면 공로자를 대우하고 그의 삶을 교육에 사용하는 것은 덕의 형성에 긍정적인 영향을 준다. 이러한 박중빈과 비롤리의 자유관은 덕 교육에 대하여 다음과 같은 의의를 지닌다. 첫째, 교사는 자신부터 덕을 형성할 수 있도록 노력해야 하고 학생에게 적극적으로 관여하여 다양한 학교 문제를 해결해야 하며, 학생은 교사의 관여에 대해 주체적으로 대하는 책임 있는 자세를 지녀야 한다. 둘째, 학교에 만연한 차별과 경쟁을 극복하고, 평등과 조화의 가치를 구현할 때 학생의 덕이 형성될 수 있다.|The purpose of this research is to clarify the reasons for virtue education by analyzing the conception of liberty in the philosophy of Park Chung-bin and Viroli comprehensively. The concept of liberty in the philosophy of Park Chung-bin and Viroli is based on fourfold grace and republicanism theory, respectively. Park Chung-bin knows how to apply the grace of heaven and earth, parents, fellow beings, and laws according to the current practices. Viroli reinterprets republicanism according to the current generations, as the new ideology emphasizes liberty and virtue. Park Chung-bin and Viroli have a similarity in their perspective on liberty, which means that they both value the concept of liberty. Their liberty means being able to be not dependent. They see liberty as a realization of controlling selfish desires and being exempt from oppression by others. They criticize the negative perspective of seeing liberty as a lack of interference and accept the positive outlook of seeing liberty as controlling selfish desires. They believe that virtue and laws are necessary to realize liberty. Notably, they emphasize the formation of virtue. Social equality is required to realize virtue, according to those two scholars. When society is equal, individuals have the motivation to form virtue. According to Park Chung-bin and Viroli, respecting contributors of liberty properly and using their lives as a model for education positively affects virtue formation. The conception of liberty by Park Chung-bin and Viroli has two implications on virtue education. First, teachers have to make efforts to model their behavior to students and be actively involved in addressing problems happening in school. Students need to have a responsibility to be active in teachers’ involvement. Second, schools have to overcome widespread discrimination and competitiveness. When equality and harmony are realized, students can seek after virtue.
