At present, our country recognizes the need for education in developing creative talent that can adapt to rapidly changing social environment in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution and strives to study innovative educational models that deviate from the existing teaching methods. Accordingly, design thinking, a creative and converged way of thinking that enables one to realize one's thoughts and empathy toward human beings, is drawing attention.
In this study, the effects of design thinking on students were analyzed and the direction for improvement was derived by conducting both lecture-type and design-thinking-based project classes for students of industrial high schools. In the course of selecting and solving problems that may be encountered in real life, students were encouraged to acquire and utilize their knowledge. The program was organized by group and provided various materials for the prototype by creating a free atmosphere and utilizing post-it etc. Later, by conducting a survey on the way students applied design thinking, he drew educational significance on achievement of learning goals, understanding of education contents, problem solving skills, and interest in classes.
Although design thinking-based learning programs are still new to students, students have been able to take the initiative in attending classes to increase their interest in classes and focus on processes. In addition, through discussion with the group members, they received repeated feedback and implemented solutions on their own, which helped them develop themselves and cooperate. Through the process of emitting and converging ideas of one's own, one can see that it has also helped build confidence by raising creative thinking, releasing results, and receiving praise and encouragement.
Through this study, we have verified that design thinking-based classes have positive effects on improving students' creative thinking and educating them efficiently. We hope that various ways to develop creative talent will be studied through long-term research on program class models based on design thinking.
