Abstract
Technical high school is specified as vocational training institution and accordingly policies related to reorganization of the curriculum are implemented. It is apprehended that education can be the only purpose of technical high school students for getting jobs without developing their multi competencies. Therefore, this study focused on intrinsic educational objectives and devised a instruction plan which includes design thinking process.
The study identified the concept, meaning and models of design thinking process. It verified key elements and flow of the process examples and abstracted the main steps from them. Resultingly the study suggests practical applications for the course of teaching and learning classes. The effectiveness verification is done with references as other papers, investigations, etc.
Through this process, an educational program, which consists of ten classes, applying design thinking was made. It proceeds through 4 steps : empathize, interpret, ideate, undergo trial and error. Setting, observing and interviewing users, role playing activities are performed in the first step. Visualization of interpretation and defining ploblems activites in the second step, brainstorming with variety tools in the third step are conducted. Finally, students materialize their results of the program.
In conclusion, this study showed the effects of the educational program applying design thinking process as follows. First, students can improve their self-esteem and confidence. Second, students can earn understanding and empathizing skills. Lastly, students can learn flexibility, creativity and ability to overcome.
