Abstract
In this study, we investigated the coaching ability of leaders who are perceived by excellent athletes in track and field hurdles. In this study, four excellent players with more than 10 years of athletic career, more than 5 years of national experience, more than 3 years of national competitions, and more than 25 years of experience in international competitions, As a researcher, I selected one excellent leader who has experience of teaching for more than five years.
The data collection was conducted from August 2018 to March 2019 for a total of 8 months in the literature survey and in-depth interviews. The collected data were categorized by open coding and deep coding. The conclusion of this study is as follows.
First, one of the coaching factors perceived by superior hurdlers is guidance authority. The subcategories of guidance authority consisted of involvement, acceptance, and compromise. Among the factors of coaching, instruction authority is the basic factor. In this study, among the coaching factors that leaders should have, involvement, acceptance of demands, and compromise are the basic factors that have a significant impact on instruction.
Second, one of the coaching factors perceived by excellent hurdlers is responsibility. Subcategories of responsibility consisted of intimacy, recognition, and consciousness. Players are affected by the responsible behavior of the leader. In this study, it was confirmed that leader interacts smoothly with the athletes and this interaction affects the performance.
Third, one of the coaching factors perceived by the excellent hurdlers is the leader nature. The subcategories of leader character consisted of respect, consideration, and prominence. Leaders should respect and respect the athlete as a personality, not a subject of guidance, and should show greatness, not timidity. In this study, it was confirmed that the leader should have the correct leader character and instruct the player.
Fourth, one of the coaching factors perceived by the excellent hurdlers is the map method. Subcategories of instructional method consisted of observation, motivation, interest, and change. The performance of the athletes varies according to the way the leader is taught. In this study, it was confirmed that the leadership style of this leader is an essential factor for the winners and losers of the athletes, which has significant influence on the map.
Fifth, one of the coaching factors perceived by excellent hurdlers is the ability to deal with situations. Subcategories of coping ability consisted of coolness, injury management, and expression. The leadership area of ​​the leader is extensive. One of them was able to confirm that the leader had to prepare for a situation that was difficult to predict.
