Reserch on the Development of Taekwondo as Cultural Contents

In current society, there is communication and many exchanges of people all over the world by development of communication technology. The most important and emerging exchange is culture industry. The cultural industry is recognized as a pivotal industry for the current society, and various organizations in each country are making efforts to develop new and creative things to promote their culture. Conventional tourism has a passive and one-dimensional view, but sport tourism is more active and experience-oriented tourism, that’s why such tourism is becoming more and more prefer.
The purpose of this study is to present the necessity and various plans for the development of Taekwondo as a culture contents through case analysis of Taekwondo contents.
For purpose of this study researcher referred to the statistical data and some cases related to the research centering on the literature studies that compare and analyze the results so far, to increase the reliability and validity of research materials collected a variety of materials through Published domestic thesis up to now and published research, research materials, related books at Performing Arts Related Institutions with newspaper articles, etc. Based on the results of the analysis, researcher suggest Specific ways to develop Taekwondo as a culture contents and drew out those results.
First, Early education of culture and art is necessary. In the present, the culture industry has emerged as a core industry as it has changed from the information age to the culture age. Therefore, the awareness of elementary, junior high and high school students should be strengthened, and systematic early education is needed through the curriculum so that Taekwondo can understand the value of art rather than sports.
Second, combination of new and fresh materials is necessary. Until now, Taekwondo has played a role as a content in combination with various materials for numerous developments. The major advantage of the previously analyzed works was that they combined with fresh and diverse contents such as Hangeul, Arirang, B-boy, and Dance, which enabled them to gained a lot of attention from audiences and stood on the global stage. As such, Taekwondo is a global sport that everyone knows, but for beyond recognition of competitive sports, making a new harmony of various traditional contents of Korea that are not yet known is necessary in order to develop various directions as a traditional martial art of Korea.
Third, Culture contents production manpower should be expanded and developed. So far, Korea has not been able to develop many contents because of lack of awareness of cultural contents and production manpower. It can be showed that market activity is not active compared to other countries. In addition, all contents are produced on the basis of scenarios but production technology is limited due to lack of creation manpower, and development difficulties are experienced. In order to solve these difficulties, if there is a continuous interest from nation, and economic support is provided to continuously challenge and try, the lack of manpower will be resolved and contents will be created that incorporate various scenarios in which Korean traditional elements are harmonized.
Fourth, New genre contents should be developed through exchanges in each field. If experts in each field develop their performance contents by combining their knowledge and experience with Taekwondo, a traditional martial art in Korea, it will be possible to create new genre contents that have not been encountered before. And Its value will directly affect the competitiveness of the world culture market.
Fifth, It is necessary to establish an information network related to Taekwondo tourism information. Until now, the reason why Taekwondo does not receive the spotlight as a culture product rather than a sport is the lack of information on Taekwondo. In order to commercialize culture of Taekwondo, it is important to link up with overseas tourism experts from major countries, to investigate the satisfaction of visitors to Korea, to rebuild public relations strategy, and to link traditional Korean culture and Taekwondo information network. Also, it is necessary to explore and research ways to develop and promote Taekwondo performances and culture products by linking the Taekwondo Association of Korea, Kukkiwon, World Taekwondo Federation, nationwide scale Taekwondo Gym and oversea Taekwondo Gym
Future research will require additional research on Taekwondo contents, that will be developed as cultural contents. In addition to the above conclusions, it is necessary to study the various culture products of Taekwondo from Taekwondo performing arts, to find the necessary parts for Taekwondo development plan and to develop them as cultural contents.
