한지공예와 현대미술기법을 접목한 전통미술교육에 관한 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to induce the interest about art and build a perception of tradition for the students who are quickly changing in today's digital era and losing the identity and tradition of our country's people in the modern society. This research aims to develop and apply a new teaching method of traditional art that can grow the students' capability to neoterically reinterpret the traditions in and create in a unique way. It's true that most classes were coped with appreciations in the past curriculum, and classes like these have brought negative effects like reducing students' interest and making them consider tradition stuffy and old-fashioned. But since tradition hardens our people's identity int eh globalization era and shows the fruit of our 5000 year history, we should preciously preserve traditions and develop it furthermore. So this research aims to graft modern techniques onto traditional art and find a creative studying method through which students can learn more easily and with more interest, so that students don't just consider traditions stuffy and old-fashioned and exclude them. As a solution for that, students will have to use collage, a modern technique, to create a Hanji craft by using Hanji, Korea's traditional paper, so that they can inherit and develop out country's tradition. The process of the class is composed of 4 steps. First is generally understanding Hanji and learning theoretical knowledge about Hanji craft. Second is explaining collage, which is a modern technique that will be grafted onto Hanji craft, and finding what method of Hanji craft method can be combined with what type of collage. Third is having a practical lesson that combined paper art and papier colle, which are both expressive techniques of Hanji art. Then the teacher will lead students so that they can reduce the psychological distance about traditional art about writing an artwork activity report and complete their traditional Hanji craft by combining modern techniques, unique expressions, and composition. Fourth, students will appreciate and evaluate each other's work. A new possibility about traditional art education could be observed by this research. Students can beat their resistance about traditional art more and gain more interest by grafting modern techniques to Hanji craft than in erstwhile traditional art classes, and thereby students can create original work and use them in this craft class. Students' creative expressions will be elicited, and by inducing their interest and attention, an effective learning will be possible. So as a method to beat students' resistance to tradition, arouse interest, and arouse the importance of tradition, the modern technique collage will be combined with Hanji craft. Students will be able to learn while creatively expressing, and they'll experience various techniques of collage. They'll learn what techniques of collage make the expression more effective when combined with Hanji craft, and realize the importance of our country's tradition through that process.
