Abstract
The materialistic, modern society has been making the modern people gradually lose the directional nature of life and has been making them live within a confusion of the values. The development of science and the environment of the era have been having the negative influences on the characters and the values of the human beings. And the resultant, negative effects have been appearing as a more serious and dangerous social problem the more the time passes by. This is also the same with the youths who must form the proper characters.
On the school site, the deviant behaviors of the children, like the adolescent delinquencies, the suicides, the school violences, and the maladaptations, have been taking place frequently. The cause behind such problems is, eventually, the absence of the character. The dreadful mind has been growing regarding whether the human beings who lost the values regarding the dignity of the human beings, which has been getting more serious everyday and who could not cultivate the altruistic personality can live as a constituent member of the society with the minimal character.
Although the educational methods for the desirable character cultivation regarding such social problems have been proceeded in the classes of the many subjects, among them, art has been regarded as a means for the materialization of the ideal country, a means for the human education, and an important means for the character education for the cultivation of the proper emotions. Among the many kinds of the arts education, the fine arts education, especially, provides the big help so that the citizens become the mature citizens who possess the moral community awareness through the invigorations of the senses and the emotional reactions by making one recognize oneself with the sensitive sensibilities and senses and through the structural understanding.
This research researched the interrelationships between character education and fine arts education by focusing on the fine arts education among the many plans that can solve the problems of the youths which has been directly confronted by our society. First, by basing on the theoretical backgrounds of character education and fine arts education, the case examples and the methods of the character education which has been implemented presently were researched. And, after considering the differentiation of the influence of the fine arts education on the character education of the youths, a proposal for a fusion-type study guidance with the other subjects for the character education was presented.
At the present point in time when the education for the recovery of the human nature is desperately needed, it is highly expected that this research will contribute to the formation of the desirable human beings, which is the highest point of aim of the fine arts education by raising the awareness that the fine arts subject is a subject that can gather the direct effects on the character education, by continuing with the researches on the fine arts education plan for the efficient character education, and by being acted on more aggressively on the site of the education.
