Abstract

Comparative analytical study on elementary Ocarina textbooks

Education of ocarina instrument that students have easy access to in school is increasing. Also, demand for textbooks for elementary learners who are introduced to the instrument for the first time is increasing as well. Therefore, this study collected and investigated every ocarina textbooks that were published in Korea. Specially, the purpose of this study is to select elementary textbooks that self-directed learning is possible by rudimentary learners. The range of this study is as follows. They are elementary ocarina textbooks among ocarina textbooks on the market in Korea. This study selected 11 elementary ocarina textbooks that include CD for accompaniment among 25 types of textbooks. 3 perspectives of the textbook analysis used in this study are appearance perspective, musical perspective, and instruction method. The results of comparison analysis are as follows. First, in appearance perspective, 11 types of textbook included accompaniment of C Key, G Key, and F Key instruments in common. Secondly, in musical perspective, this study analyzed by focusing on repertoire and instrument playing styles. As a result, most of 11 types of textbook arranged tonality in the order of C major, F major, and G major. Also, they were suggesting etudes with repeated fóur-fóur tìme(4/4) and easy rhythm. Thirdly, in terms of teaching methods, there were few explanation on tuning method, gripping method, tonguing method, and articulation. Also, there were fewer CD sound sources compare to the songs included in textbooks. After comparing and analyzing the 11 types of ocarina elementary ocarina textbooks, the researcher made the following suggestions. First, there were many children’s songs and foreign folk songs for genre included in the elementary ocarina textbooks. It would be necessary to include music that can develop cultural knowledge about music from various cultures. Secondly, they need to contain specific explanation on the tuning method and tonguing method to solve unstable tune of ocarina. These would have to be the teaching methods that elementary learners can understand and apply easily. Thirdly, CD sound source is very helpful for learning real tones in elementary textbook. It is considered that providing both performance CD and accompaniment CD will provide an opportunity for learners to enjoy musical performance activity.

학교 현장에서는 쉽게 접할 수 있는 오카리나 악기 교육이 증대되고 있다. 또한 악기를 처음 접하는 초보 학습자를 위한 교재의 수요도 늘어나고 있다. 이에 본 연구자는 국내에 출간된 오카리나 교재들을 모두 수합하여 고찰하게 되었다. 특히 초보 학습자의 자기주도학습이 가능한 초급 교재를 선택하는 데 본 연구의 목적이 있다. 본 연구의 범위는 다음과 같다. 즉 국내에 시판되고 있는 오카리나 교재 중 T자형 오카리나 초급 교재들이다. 총 25종의 교재 중에서 반주용 CD를 포함하고 있는 초급 단계의 11종 교재만을 선택하여 연구하였다. 본 연구에서 사용한 교재 분석의 관점은 외형의 관점, 음악의 관점, 지도 방법의 관점 등 3가지이다. 다음은 비교 분석의 내용이다. 첫째, 외형의 관점에서 CD가 포함된 11종의 교재들은 공통적으로 오카리나 C조의 음원이며 G조, F조 악기의 반주 형태를 포함한 교재도 있었다. 둘째, 음악의 관점에서는 레퍼토리와 악기 주법을 중심으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 11종의 교재 중 대부분은 다장조, 바장조, 사장조의 순서로 조성을 배열하였고, 4분의 4박자(4/4)와 쉬운 리듬이 반복되는 연습곡부터 난이도가 높은 연주곡까지 다양하게 제시하고 있었다. 또한 악곡의 장르는 동요와 외국민요가 가장 많이 수록되었다. 셋째, 지도방법의 관점에서는 튜닝법, 파지법, 텅잉법, 아티큘레이션에 대한 설명이 미흡하게 나타났으며 교재의 수록곡에 비해 CD 음원이 적었다. 위와 같이 11종 오카리나 초급 교재를 비교 분석한 후, 본 연구자는 다음과 같이 제언한다. 첫째, 오카리나 초급 교재에 수록된 악곡의 장르는 동요와 외국 민요가 가장 많았다. 서양 음악뿐만 아니라 국악을 접할 수 있는 기회를 제공해주어 우리나라 음악 문화의 소중함을 기를 수 있는 악곡도 수록되어야 할 것이다. 둘째, 오카리나의 불안정한 음정을 해소하기 위한 튜닝법과 텅잉법에 대한 구체적인 설명이 수록되어야 한다. 이는 초급 학습자가 이해하기 쉽고, 적용할 수 있는 지도방안이 도출되어야 하고 지속적으로 연구해야 할 것이다. 셋째, 다양한 교수∙학습용 CD가 제작 및 보급되었으면 한다. CD음원은 초급 교재에서 실음 학습에 큰 도움이 된다. 학습용 CD와 반주용 CD를 교재와 함께 제시한다면, 학습자로 하여금 자기 스스로 연주 활동을 즐길 수 있는 기회를 제공할 것으로 본다.
