Research on animation-based teaching method
For effective Traditional Art Education

The purpose of this research aims to find various teaching method of traditional art education through using animation which inspires interest and participation from students.
An analysis on current traditional art education programs shows that traditional art education has not received much attention from students. Although teachers recognize an importance of traditional art education, there is no appropriate teaching method. Subsequently, most of teachers depend on merely ‘expression techniques on textbook’. Since teachers have not learned about traditional art and their understanding on traditional art is highly limited. Consequently, they are unable to teach students properly.
The scope of traditional art education of elementary school curriculum is confined in simple expression activity and appreciation activity. Because current art education curriculum, neither with variety of teaching method nor teaching material is mainly based on expression-oriented and function-oriented pedagogy.
The animation-based teaching method can enable teachers to overcome existing problems. The animation-based teaching method for traditional art education has effectiveness as followings:
Firstly, students began to have more interest in expression techniques of traditional art. Whiling discovering new technique, students accomplish a sense of achievement and satisfaction on their works of art. Secondly, the art class attracted more interest and more participation as well as sense of composite art from students. Lastly, students developed their esthetic sense by appreciating works of art by themselves.
As a result, an animation-based teaching method is effective to traditional art education. Children, these days, seem to more actively react to video images rather than still images. Therefore, an animation-based teaching method appeals to students who are not friendly with printed media and also, it enables students to have understanding on traditional art; confidence on expression activity of traditional art; more interest on art class; and confident expression activity. Additionally, it allows students to come closer to traditional art.
