대안학교 운영실태와 개선방안에 관한 연구-월광기독학교 사례를 중심으로

- Abstract
- A variety of social issues has been presented with the state-led public education system. These social issues include a lack of community spirit, student dropout rates, and education based on entrance examinations. Due to these problems in the public education system, the need for alternative education has been raised. Alternative education has had positive performance reviews since it began 20 years ago. Some problems of alternative schools include the difficulty of curriculum and a lack of government support. We no longer leave the problems in alternative schools up to their own governance. Systematic management and policies are urgently needed. The purpose of this study is to present the improvement plan by analyzing the operation status of the alternative specialized schools and case of Wolkwang Christian school.
In chapter 1, using the case studies and survey results from Wolkwang Christian School to confirm the analysis of the educational philosophy of alternative specialized schools, their curriculum, school operations, and legal system.
In chapter 2, chronologically summarizes the development process of alternative education in our country. It also examines the theoretical background for alternative education. The concepts and types of alternative education were organized and then the educational philosophy, organizing curriculum and the principles of the school administration were compared for characteristics and similarities.
In chapter 3, used the Wolkwang Christian School operating case to analyze the problems and operating realities associated to alternative specialized schools. Wolkwang Christian School used a survey to examine satisfaction through the opinions of parents and teachers.
In chapter 4, presented improvement plans for the problems identified in Chapter 3.
In chapter 5, summarizes the issues identified in all the previous chapters, draws conclusions and makes suggestions for the future administration of alternative schools.
The major results obtained from the analysis of documents and survey could be summarized as follows :
First, each alternative school is required to make an effort to redefine the educational philosophy and apply it well to the curriculum and school management.
Next, it is needs to progressively reduce completion time of The National Common Basic Curriculum, and it is necessary for administration field to establish research institutions for developing alternative educational curriculums, programs and materials and for training teachers.
Also, it is essential to expand alternative school funding, minimize administrative regulation and interference with administrative task of the alternative schools and give autonomy so that they can express the educational philosophy well.
Finally, We should revise the current legal systems of alternative school to harmonize autonomy and publicity and make new legal systems that integrate specialized alternative schools and alternative schools so that alternative schools also can support, be managed and supervised.
