Abstract
In recent years, as youth issues that include suicidal events, school violence, school bullying have been emerged as a social problem, the importance of characteristic education is reiterated. When the problems became increasingly serious, the needs arise for the characteristic education and various forms of alternative educational effort were attempted. There is well-rounded education based on the personality in the pursuit of the alternative school; for example, the study of ‘mind’ represents in the Won-buddhism, which is the doctrine of the content that is the study of the mind by looking back and discovering for yourself what is the cause of all the problems. Therefore it is being implemented reflecting the characterization of the alternative school education and curriculum, without religion or ideology of limited adoption.
Mind study has been used as a tool to heal the psychological problems of the students. And also music therapy could be used as the tool by giving the musical talent to the students. Therefore, it is effective for the alternative education. The music therapy program was conducted in Sung-ji Song-Hak middle school for two months; the emotional and behavior characteristics of the students were examined through a module to fit each type of abnormal group of students. However, the types of students who are experiencing psychological problems were too diverse and the time had not been allowed enough. The fundamental purpose of this study was in the musical activities of the time of self-reflection and peer relationships to promote and share the joy of the music itself. Information through questionnaires showed that the students could obtain the high self-esteem when using the music therapy. This study also supports the apparent effect visible to the students in constructing their dream and the future plan. The music therapy promotes peer relationships by sharing their opinions with their colleagues. Therefore, the music therapy is one of the most effective methods of the alternative education.
