A Study of Gukak Performance Activities for Adolescents “Focused on Kwangju Municipal Art Company”

Adolescence is the period in which changes occur in physics, self, emotion etc. to the adolescents. And during the development of various emotions in adolescence many changes in character building harmoniously and self growth occur according to the experiences which adolescents have. Thus, the experience among a lot of experiences which adolescents have becomes the foundation to recognize the root of our culture and succeed to it and develop it and enjoy the traditional music in the future. As a result, in this study I conducted the literature search through the precedent study on the related books and the performance activities of each municipal organization. And I narrowed the range of the study to Kwangju Municipal Theater Company and Kwangju Municipal Gukak Orchestra among 6 art organizations of Kwangju art companies and compared and analyzed the performance activities for adolescents of two organizations. And the survey targeting 123 high school first grade students was conducted in order to examine whether the performance has achieved the instructive effect and has met the desire of them and look into the perception level of the traditional music of adolescents and effectiveness and response of them and supplementation of the Visiting Art Company. Thus, visiting art company should have a variety of performance forms as well as it should have accompanied performance with adolescents at regular intervals. Second, Visiting Art Company should advertise each school in Kwangju as well as it gives the opportunity for co-performance with schools in Kwangju. And it needs to provide a various performance forms including the program which has not only accompanied performances but also the accompanied performance with instruments of single and duets in order to give the students the opportunity to listen to each individual sound of the instrument.
