Abstract
This study aimed to examine the effects of Korean dance-oriented gymnastics on elementary students’ awareness of Korean Dance. It focused on explaining the relationship between learning the Korean dance-oriented gymnastics and how they think about Korean Dance. For this purpose, the data were collected from 71 students from 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade at an elementary school in Yeosu City. A learning plan for each activity were made by restructuring the Korean dance-oriented gymnastics learning program according to the teaching plan by session in the curriculum and this Korean dance-oriented gymnastics learning plan was applied to the students. The pretest was performed when students had never learn the Korean dance-oriented gymnastics and after the experiment, the posttest was performed. According to the test, it showed the awareness of Korean Dance had increased but the Korean dance-oriented gymnastics was still a bit challenging for the elementary students. Therefore, we need the various efforts to get more attention from students to develop the Korean Dance.
