- Abstract
- This paper aims to compare and analyze the appreciation area in highschool music textbooks and to study on the teaching method. The Seventh Curriculum and the contents of the Curriculum Revision were examined and the changes in music textbooks were searched and analyzed accordingly. And the teaching methods appropriate to the Curriculum Revision was researched and included in this paper. The importance of music appreciation area apposite to the case was recognized and the necessity and the purpose of this research was described. The conclusions are drawn like these.
First, the frequency of the appreciation area varies every textbook, thus the essential appreciation part should be equally distributed in each of textbooks. Second, the song to appreciate should be well-balanced based on the songwriters, times, genres, and the various styles of musical performance, which would help students understand music comprehensively and abolish their prejudice against music.
Third, a variety of Korean songs should be included in the curriculum to acknowledge and understand the importance of Korean music.
Forth, various types of media to appreciate music, such as mp3 , cell-phone and internet, etc, should be used to keep pace with the rapid changes in our world.
Finally, I concluded that the way and guidance of music appreciation should introduced in the formal education curriculum. In addition, the teaching methods suitable for the high school students are included in this thesis.
it is expected that this study will set forth guidelines to recognize some problems in the three kinds of the current music textbook and be helpful for the more improved and systematical music textbook.
