Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of community -based leisure instructions at the community level on bowling skills and social behaviors. It attempts to see if object generalization occurs in community -based leisure instructions by secondary researchers together with general students. The study targeted 3 placed at middle special classroom students, employing a multiple probe baseline across participants. Study results showed that bowling skills and social behaviors were successfully acquired and maintained, and learned skills and behaviors were generalized when they bowled with regular students.

The findings have the following significance. 1. Community -based leisure instructions was effective for the special education junior high school students in terms of skill acquisition and social behaviors.

- ⅴ - 2. Community -based leisure instructions helped them to learn related skills (bus rides, use of bowling alley, ability to cope with problem situations) naturally. 3. Self-awareness and self-esteem of students with disabilities were impacted positively. 4. Activities were an enjoyable experience. 5. Bowling is a highly appropriate program for use as a community -based activity for special education students. 6. The possibility is suggested that such can be used effectively for the purpose of integrating regular schools with handicapped students.
