Effect of Mathematics Education through Art Activities on Young Children's Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of mathematics education through art activities on young children's mathematical problem solving ability.
In oder to see if there is a difference on young children's mathematical problem solving ability in terms of classification, pattern, concept of number and measuring, shape, and statistics utilizing mathematics education through art activities between an experimental group and a control group. Another question was asked to see if there is a gender difference between groups.
42 of 5-year-old young children from two kindergartens in G city were participated for the study. They were divided into two groups, an experimental and a control group.
The study was designed as a pre-post test design. The study was conducted for eight weeks to see if the treatment effect of the experiment was revealed.
Results of the study are as follows. First, there are statistically significant differences on young children's mathematical problem solving ability in terms of classification, pattern, concept of number and measuring, shape, and statistics utilizing mathematics education through art activities between an experimental group and a control group.
Second, there is no gender difference on young children's mathematical problem solving ability between groups.
