ABSTRACT

A Comparative Study on teaching Methods for the Lesson of Sign and Formula

- Focusing on the level of the first year Middle School Mathematics -

The use of sign makes it possible to express various situations in everyday life mathematically and to communicate easier. Also, it gives symbolism to facilitate significant expression. The introduction of sign begins in earnest in the first grade in middle school. Students learn them in the field of sign and formula. However, the lessons of the sign and formula are limited to description of the sign and solving problems. Therefore, the students get into difficulties in the field. The aim of this article was to introduce effective teaching and learning methods which can help students to master the correct mathematical concept about the field of sign and formula according to the Revised National Curriculum in 2007 in middle school.
