- Abstract
- Generally speaking, it can be said that classic makes people feel the beauty and comfort of music. The advantage of music courses is that students gain an aesthetic experience. Consequently, the learning of contemporary music provides not only the aesthetic experience but also allows for an abundance in musical sentiments by unique expressive techniques, new tonmaterial, and the inner-musical elements of contemporary music. In addition, the learning of external elements such as an understanding of the background in which the music was composed and the composer would help to understand the ideas and values that correspond to that of the present day, since the music reflects a social phenomenon of an era. That is how in all subjects of school education, a conjunctional study of the past and present is pursued.
But music classes in current high schools follow the traditional approach of pre-20th century, and textbooks publish a narrow range of contemporary music, focusing on only a few types. Therefore, the researcher looks for a method of teaching that acknowledges the educational value of modern music and supplements the situation of current music classes.
First of all, textbooks were analyzed and a course syllabus was suggested, focusing on?uPierrot Lunaire, Op.21?v, and as the final step of the research, the study materials based on a comprehensive teaching plan of comprehension?Ecreation?Eappreciation was composed. All human beings will naturally respond to something new, and through this, everyone opens the door to another world of creation. This phenomenon corresponds to the social phenomenon in which trends are created and received by a society. Likewise, students become aware of their own identities and discover something new in themselves by the learning of contemporary music, furthermore providing a significant opportunity for the students to go into the 21st century. This is why modern music offers such a valuable educational experience. Contemporary music is broad in scope and has great variety, not to mention at times difficult to comprehend.
Research in the study method to complement and solve such challenges in the teaching of contemporary music will continue, and as long as an extensive and detailed education is further provided, the learning experience for students in the 21st century will be improved.
