- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to analyze that music education is related to personality development in adolescence. Teenagers are likely to be influenced by their emotion and environment. A variety of age group exist our society, and it is one of the responsibility of our society that we should educate adolescent who is at the most important period in their life to be a member of the desirable society.
Even though we know the importance of music education in school as a method of making social human beings, college-admission-centered education has driven the education system into focusing on a few specific subjects for entering the university. As a result, music education has been undervalued.
In this reason, I would like to make a study about the relation between character building and music education.
In this thesis,
First, it is presented how music education can have effect on formation of personality in terms of psychology and social action.
Scecondly, it shows development of personality and musicality through the music education especially in three aspects.
I think, therefore, secondary music teachers have to have responsibility for the fulfillment of raising the young people as sound citizens and developing emotions of the teenagers. In addition, music education should develop their musical potential energy and creativity, helping them express their thought and feelings. This study analyzed and researched the existing theories and documents and examined the meaning, purpose and significance of music education.
