Abstract
As science lessons consist of the science and technological theory that is based on real life, they stimulate thinking and experience of students and help them develop the scientific thinking. But, now, main forms in our science lessons progress in lectured-type class which is far from real life and just transmits knowledge. Teaching form which is easy to access real life and improve students' scientifical thinking is discussing lesson. Discussing lessons have an effect on growing students' thinking, cooperative spirits, sharing and researching abilities of science.
However, there are a lot of difficulty to go on discussing lessons. It is hard to get the active participation of students and difficult to remember how to pass the language because of just speaking. Also, when you discuss, students having just momentary feelings depend on crowd psychology, teachers feel hard to lead about discussion topics and evaluate about discussion process. But, discussion lessons actually do not progress smoothly. Therefore, we need discussion class models for overcome these difficulties and progress of class smoothly.
For these things, the researcher first researched documents of citizen consensus conference for discussion lessons and model lessons and then attended citizen consensus conference, developed theoretical models through several seminars, after applied in the first class, developed the second models by feedback. I applied these in the second class again and developed the final models by feedback. I investigated the effect by applying these to class.
In the questions stage of the citizen panel to browse, describe the topics of discussion how to discuss, take share of role in the debates, citizen panel ask the question. In the preliminary answer stage of whole panel, during the discussion, expert panel announce, answer and question with citizen panel. At this stage of citizen panel session, create a citizen's panel agreement, make out feeling of the theme and design to evaluate by small group in individual design and evaluation stage. I applied to discussion class of citizen agreement on basic design an Xenotransplantation that was a social issue, I analyzed the results of applying the discussion for the 2∼4 grade students of science education major in a college of education located in Gwang-ju.
Research follows:
At the first, the discussed-type of class of the citizen agreement can overcome the shortcomings of the existing discussion. For example, students encourage active participation themselves by participating expert panel and citizen panel. And expert panel communicate effectively to complete visualization of the presentation, not just presentation of their situation. And they insist their point on sure grounds, do not involve in crowd psychology. Secondly, they had the high interest in a topic and they was affirmative satisfaction for models of discussion classes.
