고등학교 미술 교과의 감상영역에서 시각문화교육의 활성화 방안 :미술영화 감상을 중심으로

Abstract
In current society, communication through visual images is important and to truly enjoy abundance of this visual media, proper understanding of visual culture through media education is desperately needed. The trend of video rooms beginning with appearance of colored TV sets in 1980s encouraged us to have interest in movies. As a result, viewers' eyes to movies have considerably improved and a great number of people enjoy movies. In this context, when art appreciation education is connected with movies, it is easy to understand artistic works reflecting generations, cultures and artists and to enhance visual literacy.
This study aims to present a learning plan for which art movies are used for appreciation class. This plan was designed to enhance understanding of artistic works and visual literacy for critical appreciation learning and the results are presented as follows:

First, as a result of comparing the present curriculum with the revised art curriculum of 2007, it was found that social needs according to changes in visual environment were reflected and visual literacy that visual cultural phenomena are understood and used were emphasized. And the direction of art education that students can have experiences and communicate in life was presented.

Second, this study understood a new cultural paradigm developed based on various visual images appearing in current society as a new concept of visual cultures and emphasized the necessity of visual media education in visual cultures. This study examined the phase of and features of visual culture in post-modern period and features and concepts of visual cultural phenomena. Through such process, current society can be called 'the third wave', information-based society, and post-modernism society, and defined as a society where social and cultural environment and cultural diversity are recognized.

Third, this study suggested use of art movies for art appreciation education and a teaching and learning plan for secondary art education targeting high school students in grade 1.
This study suggested that [The Art Appreciation Education Using Art Movies] encourages students to understand artistic works and to have visual literacy as they know life of artists and the process of making them. However, as this study just presents a teaching and learning model, further studies on learning effect of practical application are needed.

Now, school art education should be provided in respect to learners' life as members of communities and in social and cultural context beyond learning to acquire just expressive techniques or functions and help students to communicate each other. Though the 7th Curriculum was designed learner-oriented, art education which is not directly related to examination for college entrance is disregarded by students due to curtailment of hours and introduction of optional subject system and finally it will be doomed to be cut or disappear. However, in our reality where people want to create and enjoy art and cultures and pursue continuing learning, art education based on visual cultures is necessary for high school students and when mass-media, society and learners change their recognition on school education and have intention to innovate art education, its effect will be maximized.
