Many text books to one subject for the teaching and learning of math is preferred and the development of multimedia teaching material is emphasized to meet the change to the information age in the 7th curriculum. Teaching and leaning material should be used in various ways as the forms of multimedia in 21st century.
The Equations of Geometry concept is the basic and most important part of school mathematics. Recently there have been a number of interesting teaching methods for Equations of Geometry and their plotting using computer programs, e. g., Geometer's sketchpad and Cabri Ⅱ. In fact, recently it is possible for students to research properties of equations of geometry and plot their graphs using interesting interactive softwares GSP and Cabri Ⅱ in their classes equipped with the web based instruction system.
In this thesis, we first survey the historical developments of functional concepts, and investigate the equation of geometry in several directions, e. g., proportion relation, correspondence relation, geometric presentation and so on. And next we will survey the recent trends of numerous changes in mathematics itself, contents of school mathematics, teaching methods for school mathematics and finally student's studies on mathematics. We also investigate the interrelation between computers and mathematics softwares, and in particular, we introduce the basic properties of GSP. In the main chapter of this thesis, we suggest a desirable teaching method for function concepts and plotting quadratic functions using Geometer's Sketchpad in the first grade of high school mathematics course.
Even though we shall emphasize the importance and power of the new efficient teaching methods for mathematics classes, the very basic premise is the well-informed teacher who knows much of modern mathematics and computers. So we recommend that every teacher should investigate and study continuously the modern teaching method for school mathematics.
