Cho Se-Hee's A Small Ball Shot Up by a Dwarf is realism novel about matters of democratic society which happened in 70's special situation, as a industrial development. Nevertheless, this novel is spreadly read so far, and it is shown to be widely combined with films, drama or other mass media etc. In this, as I thought A Small Ball Shot Up by a Dwarf shows the facts that is very famous and have formatical technique to the modern readers who is familiar with visual media, so I intend to find that facts, visual technique, in the effects to substitute the novel to the visual media.
To research this analysis, first I explain that what is the difference between novels and movies, and talk about what is the filmatic techniques. I compare and analyse both novel communicated with written language and film transmitted to be meant with visual language throughout the creative part, understandable part and the view of describer. The written language is profitable to describe the rational, logical and time expression, and the readers must do the procedure of active refiguration about it. In the contrary, films are profitable to show the thing described in the facial apprearance through the visual language because it is realised that the camera is as describer, so the spectator is to understand emotionally them as completed figure through the visual images.
Because it is presupposed to have difference between novel and film, movie technique in novels is used to recognize to 'movie technique' in films as the a metaphorical expression, which I clearly expalin that it is part of discuss on the story and discuss. To say it as the movie technique, it is 'shooting' or 'edting' technique. in this passage I analyse it two parts. one is sequence describing technique through camera-eye, the other is epical constructing technique using a montage.
In second-one, as a higher leveled montage technique, analyse epical construction technique called shot-connecting in films. montage technique is executed along the stream of viewer's consciousness, which execute two things at the same time by being cexistence to take apart boundary of time lile and space. In this passage, that are survayed to devide as montage technique of time, space and image.
Montage technique of time is technique of combining the stream of viewer's consciousness to outer stimulus as association working, 12 subordinate theme in A Small Ball Shot Up by a Dwarf, as being used, seem the subject to get more deeply involved I say. With this, A Small Ball Shot Up by a Dwarf shows movie's a special feature using time and space freely, it is thought as montage technique of space. things occurred in different place and put them together in the same time so it shows readers variety figures of lives. Also, a montage technique of visual images appears through the medium of objective images in 『A Small Ball Shot Up by a Dwarf』, it appears repdly in a whole piece and is used effectively to contrast corrupt lives of the ruling class and poor lives of ruled class.
In the second-two, I devide it 3 section which are rerunning of a scene, mise en scene and managing multiple point of view as using camera-eye.
Describing like showing things through the dramatizing is having reality of images in the film. In this A Small Ball Shot Up by a Dwarf, that is described by presenting materials directly, rerunning of a scene by showing dramatic scene, mise en scene which leads the design of composition and scene of the people, multi-views and changing speakers and by the views of speaker selected. Expressing the scene which pursues reality of images having benefit of written language makes readers experience. That include benefit of visual letter with logical cause having sensible experience.
In thire-conclusion, movie techiniques in A Small Ball Shot Up by a Dwarf are concludd, diagnose meaning of these movie techniques in modern and diagnose the way of novels in imaginary period.
This work is approaching contradiction of industrial period of labor class' alienation, ruled class, using particular expression critically. This work vividly describes reality of society extremely forced by using movie techniques, which makes readers interested and improves realities to ensure objectivity and faith.
Rerunning techniques of a scene through the camera- eye and epical constructing technique through montage technique realize visual images and imultaneous. that makes readers impressed. so readers are read logicaliy and emotionally. It is intention about realizing sensible visual images can be communicated with humans through written languag. It can be thought of the product of one’s labor, limits of novels, to complement of the disadvantage which cannot show completed figures in spite of elaborate and strict thought. Complementary cooperation between novels and films can indicate novels direction in multimedia period, that will be able to interchange when each genre contains their independent figures.
