Abstract
There are a lot of similarities between Korean and Japanese in their grammar and system, so it is familiar to the learners who study Japanese. But sometimes they have difficulties on learning the verbs which are expressions of giving and receiving.
Lots of investigation has been made for its misuse, that means we could find out the lack of drill through the repeated training and the way of learning.
This paper considered a matter in expressions of commonly used verbs which are giving and receiving through the Japanese dramas and that anybody could have difficulties on them. This study examines the usage of expressions of giving and receiving with [yaru, kureru, morau, teyaru, tekureru, and temorau]
Japanese verbs of giving and receiving as a main verb express giving and receiving but their usage is decided depending on [giver], [receiver] and [object]. that means its meaning changes according to taking a view of a situation in someone's position, bringing someone into focus, regarding someone as the object, that is to say, the verbs which are giving and receiving limit grammatical person and are concerned in speaker's focus.
Japanese verbs which are giving and receiving as a auxiliary verb express action of giving and receiving, namely usage to appear advantages and benefit in receiving, advantage expressions and the others.
Generally, [teyaru] is someone's giving something to someone else and those verbs will be a positive side or a negative side, but sometimes they are regarded as his or her own strong will.
In Japanese dramas [tekureru] shows that the object indicates speaker's expression and it is commonly used when someone wants to ask something.
[temorau] shows when someone wants to ask something politely and someone wants to get something from someone who is the same position with oneself and lower. It has some restriction which the speaker is always located in subject position and the first person in grammatical person cannot be located in object position.
