- Abstract
- Korea English education is changing from teacher-fronted teaching method to learner-centered these days. Different from the teacher-fronted method, the learner can take part in the learning method selection and decision making process positively. In other words, learner-centered English learning goals and teaching styles are decided by learner's needs, levels, and interest. For this reason, learners need to be able to learn on their own to achieve a proficient level of English.
Therefore, the purpose of this study to improve learner's self-directed learning ability by supplying learning strategies that are geared towards improving learner's autonomy and creativity. A wide range of strategies be included in English learning so that learners can be more aware of their own learning process and actively participate to improve their language skills. Furthermore, systemic strategy instruction should be included in the syllabus and should be taught explicitly to students for their effective language learning.
In conclusion, I would suggest that people who want to improve their English need to learn foreign language learning strategies.
