Abstract
Dance and rhythmic activities contribute to achieve the purpose of balanced dance education in infancy. These activities develop the level of physical movements, the ability to express itself and creativity. Also it is the best way to encourage children to be aware of beautifulness. No matter what it may be creative dance, 'parachute'-dance or learning aerobic step, the purpose is to make children move actively in response to rhythm.
This study aims to test the effect of rhythm learning on the physical development of children. The test was carried out by selecting 80 infants of 4,5-year-old going to 'children house' in Seoul. 20 infants in 4-year-old and 20 infants in 5-year-old was divided into experiment group and the rest 40 into comparison group.
On the test, experiment group had taken 32 times dancing lesson during 16 weeks. The running time of each lesson was forty minutes, while comparison group had taken only regular learning activities except dancing class.
‘The test tool of athletic ability' used for this test is 'amended and complemented test guide' which was used by O Jin-Gu in 1984, in order to measure athletic ability. The list of athletic ability for the test is following 5 items; the sense of equilibrium, the sense of pliability, the muscular endurance, the ability to react instantly, and the ability to react immediately?
On this study, these following questions is asked to reveal the effect of rhythm learning on the physical development of children.
1) How does rhythm learning effect on the physical development?
1-1) How does rhythm learning effect on the sense of equilibrium?
1-2) How does rhythm learning effect on the sense of pliability?
1-3) How does rhythm learning effect on the muscular endurance?
1-4) How does rhythm learning effect on the ability to react instantly?
1-5) How does rhythm learning effect on the ability to react immediately?
The data for the effect of rhythm learning on the physical development of children collected before and after the test were analyzed by methods of Independent Sample T-test through the SPSS/12 program.
The result of this study presents that these following aspects(the sense of equilibrium and pliability, the muscular endurance, the ability to react instantly and the ability to react immediately) showed meaning difference between experiment group participating the programme of rhythm learning and comparison group showed.
Therefore, rhythm learning takes effect to develop the sense of equilibrium and pliability, the muscular endurance, the ability to react instantly and the ability to react immediately in children's physical improvement.
