Abstract
Nowadays there are not many opportunities for the Korean middle school students to be exposed to Korean paintings as middle school art education is focused on teaching western art. Therefore there is an urgent task to develop the creativity of individuals and provide the basis for developing traditional Korean art by emphasizing the expression of the inner world of Korean art through various expressive activities. These days the education of Korean art stops at the completion of the curriculum in middle school art education, and the students who are accustomed to the foreign cultures are prone to have negative and contemptuous view-point toward the Korean art and culture.
Therefore the purpose of this study lies in developing the aesthetic emotion of the middle school students through the teaching of Korean painting, the appreciation of various art works and expressive activities.
This study is done by referring to preceding researches and documents and its objects of the application are middle school students. If we could teach the young generation by appropriate teaching method and give them various opportunities of appreciating Korean paintings, I'm sure, Korean art would develop creatively with the self-reliance of Korean people and culture, accommodating modern sensibility.
